Coldplay singer is finally engaged to actress Dakota Johnson, who is widely known for her roles in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ and ‘Madame Web’.
The 47-year-old recently proposed to Dakota and wants to take their relationship forward, blossoming into marriage. Chris’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow is fully supportive of the couple and gave them their blessings. Gwyneth Paltrow also said last October that is “good friends” with Dakota, describing her as an “adorable, wonderful person”. Chris and Paltrow’s kids Apple and Moses are also in support of the union.
Chris and Dakota’s dating timeline
The couple were first seen together in the year 2017, a year after the singer’s split with his ex-wife Gwyneth. There were speculations about Dakota and Chris to be dating but none of them were confirmed. It wasn’t clear whether they were romantically involved or just close acquaintances. In June 2019, the couple drifted apart from each other for a while, rumored as a result of Chris wanting them to have children which Dakota was not ready to accept at the prime of her career. However, soon the couple patched things up and got back together, with their bond stronger than before.
In an interview with Bustle, the actress opened up about being a stepmom to Apple, 19, and Moses, 17, the teenage children Coldplay singer Chris shares with Gwyneth. She said – “I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart.” She also said that she is open to having children of her if that’s what is meant to be.
Although the actress has been dating Chris since 2017, watching him perform on stage is never a dull moment for her
“I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know… I’m watching my favorite being do his favorite thing”, she explained.
The couple has been staying at a beach house in Malibu. They are not yet rushing their marriage and are taking things slowly, whilst enjoying what life has to offer.
