After a flying start, India spoiled the chance to build a mammoth score, and finally concluded their first innings at 300 runs with the loss of seven wickets.

Century of Virat Kohli (107) and half centuries of Shikhar Dhawan (73) and Suresh Raina (74) played a crucial role in taking India to the 300 run mark.

India who began their innings in a slow manner lost their first wicket at the seventh over when the score was just 34. Rohit Sharma was dismissed with just 15 runs in his account.

After the initial blow, Indian team came back to the game in spanking passion. Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli built a second wicket partnership of 129 runs, and finally Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed when the score reached 163. After that, it was a portrayal of sheer cricketing excellence by young Virat and Suresh Raina.
