London Police Arrests Man On Suspicion Of Throwing Shotgun Cartridges In Buckingham Palace

On Tuesday, May 2, police in London caught a man after items presumed to be shotgun cartridges were thrown into the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

The Incident

As per The Times Of India, the triggering incident happened four days before King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s coronation.

There have been no reports of guns fired or injuries to police officers or members of the public, and police stated they are not evaluating the situation as connected to terrorism. Police discovered a knife in the suspect’s hands when they detained him on suspicion of having an offensive weapon.

Additionally, he was lugging a strange bag. After the man was taken into custody, the police established a perimeter. Following a professional evaluation, a precautionary controlled explosion was performed.

Following the incident, roads were closed but later reopened. Additionally, most of the cordons have been removed.

The Royal Coronation

King Charles will be formally crowned at Westminster Abbey in London on May 6, which will kick off the festivities for his coronation. The next day, May 7, Windsor Castle, west of London, will host a televised music event with “global music icons and contemporary stars,” according to Buckingham Palace.

The conclusion of coronation weekend will take place on May 8, a national holiday in the UK this year.

As it prepares for the coronation procession, which will start on the palace grounds and go towards the Abbey, the Met Police is conducting one of its most extensive policing operations. Thousands of military personnel have been trained for the grand procession through London’s streets.
