Nothing scares a critic more than clicking on a new comedy and immediately seeing four negative words “Happy Madison Productions.”
Like a dead canary in the mine, they are a warning. It’s even more important when they’re based on an actor’s name other than Adam Sandler. Because it doesn’t matter what people think about the Sandman taking his company’s money on vacation for the summer, the real happiness Madison reeks is in the ones who don’t even speak up.

The ending leaves a lot of doors open, and while it’s okay to have fun forgetting to skip things in time, you at least want people and thoughts to look like human characters to get answers.
