Kohli Fresh for RCB in IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is excited about Virat Kohli’s return to the field, according to the team’s director of cricket, Mo Bobat.

Bobat made these comments during a pre-match press conference on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, ahead of RCB’s IPL 2024 opener against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Kohli is coming off a two-month break from competitive cricket after skipping the Test series against England for personal reasons.

“We all know he is an absolute champion cricketer,” Bobat told reporters. “He is coming in fresh, which is what we are excited about.”

Bobat added that Kohli “has had a good family time and is fresh with energy.” He said Kohli “has been practicing for the last few days and hitting the ball brilliantly.”

Bobat talked about the RCB bowling attack, which has both internationally experienced and domestic young talents.

“I don’t believe we have an inexperienced attack,” Bobat said. “Our overseas bowlers have a lot of international and IPL experience. The Indian quicks also have decent IPL experience, while in the spin department, we have a lot of potential in Himanshu Sharma and Mayank Dagar. Also, Karn Sharma has a lot of experience.”

He said, “We are delighted with our squad and what we have. We did a lot of work during the auction.”

On Friday, RCB will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign with a match against the defending titleholders, CSK. Bobat mentioned that the side would consider the strengths of the pitch and play to their strengths.

“We know the history of the surface,” Bobat said. “We know what it’s like here and what things are favorable in these conditions. We will have a look at the wicket again tomorrow.”

“It’s always the case of balancing your strengths with the conditions in front of you. We know our strengths and possess a strong bowling attack,” he concluded.
