When Giannis Antetokounmpo tried to take over late, AD stood tall with big blocks and boards. His energy and toughness inspired the entire Lakers squad.
Rookie Reaves Wins It At The Buzzer
But the true hero was young guard Austin Reaves. The undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma capped off his first career triple-double with a cold-blooded game-winning three at the final horn of double OT. Reaves ended up with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists in 50 gutsy minutes for the upstart first-year player.
Lakers United In Hunt For Playoffs
This fourth straight win for LA was a massive statement as they desperately cling to hopes of reaching the playoffs in the bloodbath Western Conference. The gritty fight exemplified by Davis, Reaves and supporting players like D’Angelo Russell embodied the Lakers’ team-first spirit under new coach Darvin Ham.
Looking ahead, LA gets no rest as they host Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. But after taking down Giannis and the Bucks without LeBron, there’s a renewed belief that this resilient Lakers squad can keep shocking the basketball world on their quest for a postseason spot.
