The Ministry of Health has asked the states of India to declare the black fungus as an epidemic. While Rajasthan has already made the declaration, other states are yet to do the same. The black fungus should be made a known disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, According to the Ministry. Even the ICMR seems to support the decision and brings out the rule that all states need to screen and manage the Mucormycosis with proper and separate healthcare units. There had been a meeting between the Prime Minister and the CMs of different states. This has recently led to several controversies.
Claims of different political heads:
The meeting has surely left the Chief Minister of Bengal disappointed. Ms. Mamata Banerjee has claimed that the CMs were merely used as puppets and were not let to speak about their ideas, wants, and needs to save their own states. Also, the claims that the Pm has been partial about providing supplies only to some states while neglecting the rest have also been raised as an issue by the CM. She has also mentioned that irrespective of a low supply of vaccines, Bengal has recorded lower positive cases and mortality rates in the past few days. On the other hand, Sonia Gandhi has written to the PM asking for free education to the kids who have lost their earning parent or both the parents, in the Navodaya Vidyalaya as a duty by the government. Delhi government as reported has planned to open specials centers to fight against the black fungus.
The PM has in the meeting spoken about providing help to each state and also about spreading the infection updates about the COVId to every part of the country. He is of the idea that the cases are reducing and India will surely fight against the COVID together and win the battle.
Things to keep in mind:
The COVID has shaken the world in a way that was never before seen. This is surely a time of panic all around the globe, but we are in this together and we will have to fight this together. So, let us fight the pandemic and the black fungus epidemic by maintaining all the safety and cleanliness protocols and wear a mask to prevent any sort of infection. Let us also take an oath to never ignore the health conditions and report as soon as there is any change in the normal body conditions.
