‘Besharam’ box-office collections report & review

Ranbir Kapoor’s latest Hindi flick “Besharam” is all set to break the record for the maximum number of screens released when it hits the theatres on Wednesday.

The movie is set to release in around 3600 screens across India and 700 screen overseas on Oct 2, 2013. The record for maximum screen release was previously held by Shahrukh Khan’s all time blockbuster and highest box-office earner “Chennai Express” directed by Rohit Shetty.

The movie is very cleverly released on a national holiday just before the weekend with no other movies releasing on Friday too.

“Chennai Express” which grossed an all time high of Rs 420 crores at the worldwide box-office, had earned Rs 33 crores on its 1st day.

But even though “Besharam” is being released in  more screens than “Chennai Express”, it has earned Rs 24 crores approximately on its 1st day of release at the box-office.

Since its a long weekend plus a holiday release on Oct 2 which is Gandhi Jayanti, the movie is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the 1st weekend itself.

The film directed by Abhinav Kashyap was produced by Himanshu Mehra, Sanjeev Gupta and Reliance Entertainment at a budget of Rs.60 crore.

The director is very optimistic that the movie will do very well. A spokesperson of Reliance Entertainments said that they wanted to book 4000 screens for “Besharam” but Telugu movie “Attarintiki Daaredi”  starring superstar Pawan Kalyan has occupied some screens and is doing very well at the domestic and international box-office.
